Upgrading and have around $55K for either a new or couple a year old boat. BUT, got a wife and will overnight etc. There are so many good boats out there now, Haines, Bar Crushers, Cruise Crafts, Streakers etc etc. Any feed back from owners and experience would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Sorry forgot to add that I want to be able to go offshore (without scaring the living daylights out of the wife) as well as being able to tow the boat easily over long distances.

have a look at these http://www.edencraft.com.au/ they are now made on the Gold Coast to victorian survey standards.

Very similar to the Haines models

I go offshore with a bloke nearly every Sunday. He has a 5.6m Bar Crusher. It's a plate alloy boat. Rock solid outside and handles SP Bar with ease. He runs a 115hp 4 stroke on it. Very economical and more than enough power.

The best part is there would be at least $10K change out of your budget and his boat has all the bells and whistles.

Have you considered an older boat like a Bertram 20, Savage Marlin etc etc that has a full restoration?

Have a look at www.hainestraveler.com

The TC200 is 6.1 metres and in your budget - brand new.

Same stable as Haines Signature.

Good on ya Greg...

Yeah I've seen a number of the seaquest/razorlines in the workshop for repair...seems there just isn't enough support in the cabins and the flex cracks them up top in the pillars...although there has been some transom issues as well...glad I've got a Riptide mate, and i don't think you'll be having any issues with the Fisher either...when you expecting your arrival?

All in time rhys - mission accomplished with the Mrs at the boatshow 8-) 8-) 8-) She did not see a lot of value for the bucks on most of the glass boats but oodly enough liked the Boston Whalers :o :o :o :o :o :o Ahh yeah Ok dear :-*

I had a talk with the guys at Gardner Marine - they lost me there with bagging every1 else and as usual unless you had a AMM Fishing team t-shirt on barton and his brother dont want to talk to ya :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

Well, stage one accomplished Greg...with the minister for finance and purchasing onside...its all down hill from there...I don't reckon you can beat the bang for buck element of Dave's Riptides...his workmanship and innovation is among the best on offer in my opinion...certainly a worhty competitor in the 6mt range of boats

Happy researching...happy to take you out in Flamin Riptide sometime Greg...

Cheers

Hi Greg P,

I apologise on behalf of Barton for not getting time to talk to you during the show. All three of us were extremely busy and it is difficult to satisfy everyone's needs. Some people just want to look and others want to talk about everything but boats. Most of the guys wearing the fishing team shirts were the owners of the boats who kindly let us put them on display, Barton obviously had to spend time with them. Give us a call at the office on 3889 7380, Barton is availble to talk to you at any time.

Regards
Trent

I've got a Cruisecraft 625 Outsider. Nice ride, very well finished and not bad on the juice with a 175 e-tec. Easy enough to tow with a decent tow vehicle and comfortable enough to overnight in. Suitable for hard-core fishing or family cruising.
Well designed and fitted out. Everytthing just works!
Used ones are rare but around that price for a good one.

There's 3 pretty hot boats in the "for sale" section on the pakula marlin bar. www.pakula.com/marlin

personally i would go for "beakie" for it's fitout. It's being sold by "changa" who is well known in the marlin circles and would def be someone honest you'd want to deal with.

If you are looking for a good alrounder fiberglass = suggest having a look at the Freedom Seasport 6.4. There made at Noosa and built for local conditions.

I have a nervous wife as well and she loves it. good overnight-er with plenty of cabin room and comfortable, we have 5 kids and even with all on board still reasonable for a day out.

Have been out in some pretty rough weather and handles it well.

Give Harlen at Runaway Bay Marine a call and he can put you in touch with some owners who do some serious outside work.

Good luck with your decision.
