Bout to order a new 480 freedom sport with 90optimax, but dont know what to do with the forward section. need the casting platform insert but for 600$ have been told it'd be easier to make out own. I know how the older versions used to fit but the new style isnt as simple. wondering if anyone has a new f/sport or knows about the factory platform that comes as an option. How it fits in, design etc.
Cheers

Have got the same boat but was told when I bought it that Quntrex didn't make one for the model. My advice would be to get the boat first and get the feel of the boat before dishing out the cash. Depending on the type of fishing you are doing you might not even need it.
Are they rating them to 90hp now? Mine has an 80hp 4S and that is plenty but I assume the 90 optimax may be a similar weight or lighter so should go really well.
If you've got any other questions that you want an impartial answer to let us know.

I think Quintrex have lost the plot a bit with the Freedom Sports over the last few years.
My 2002 model seems a whole lot better in a lot of ways.
More leg room when driving, more storage in the side pockets for fishing gear, pod at the back is bigger, casting platform inset was just a board covered in carpet but it was free and works well.
All they have gained with the new models is a self draining floor and fancy upholstry , no so much an allrounder anymore, especially if you do a lot of fishing. :-?
