Ethanol Blened fuel is becoming more and more available at cheaper prices than 91 Octane. I checked out the Yamaha website to see if this was ok for the engne. The answer on the website https://www.yamaha-motor.com.au/ssl/index.htm?marine_faq.asp is copied and pasted below

"Q. Are Yamaha outboards motors, 4 stroke and 2 stroke, designed to operate on Ethanol Blended Fuels."

"No, All current and previous models are NOT designed for Ethanol Blended Fuels at any percentage. (ie. E5, 5% and E10, 10%)."

"If Ethanol Blended Fuels are used you may experience driveability and running problems, fuel component deterioration and damage due to moisture. "

Good on ya Yamaha. I have no affiliation with Yamaha just love their engines and backup service. I also checked out the Honda and Suzuki sites but could not locate any info so have sent an email to them requesting info.

i'm pretty sure that government legislation only makes petrol companies declare ethanol content for greater than 5%. therefore i would be assuming that there is some ethanol in a lot of fuels and you'd never know about it, especially some of the "cheaper" premium unleaded fuels. ;)
