View Full Version : has anyone ever built there own transom

g,day people im a new member great web site and forum. i currently own a 4.5m c/c formosa ,that is 04 build .what i want to do is build a transom to suit this boat, formosa are not forth comming with any info .im a welder buy trade (have pressure tickets) and love welding with a tig is there any 1 her who has done this b4 or know of how 2 do it ?i have a pretty good idea on how too but but any help would b great . the boat is powered by a 50 2 stroke injected merc whichs pushes it along at 47 km ,boat will b repowered in the future with a e tech 75

I'm not familliar with these power/weight ratings on this particular hull but I imagine you wish to beef up the ransom to take the 75 rude?

Go and have a talk with a shipwright if that is the case.

I know Gav (gavsgonefishing) put up a great post on the extension of the transom on his 80s model Markham Whaler. Have a search under Markham under Boating.

there is a great thread in this forum on rebuilding an aluminium transom.
the member (sorry can't remember who it was - i did a search but not successful) got fisher boats to do the work and it is an excellent job.

great thread with lots of progress photos that would be of interest to you i think.

maybe somone can post the link?

I built a transom once years ago........never got round to building the rest of the boat though..... ;) ;D :o 8-) ::) :P :-? :-[ ;D :-/ ;) ;D ;)
