I have just come into possession of an old 13.5 foot fibreglass boat. Boat needs a major refurb as the previous owner has gutted it and couldn't finish the job. Was thinking of changing the boat to a centre console, as it will mainly be a fishing boat.
The boat currently has a Suzuki 25 hp motor (mid 80"s), what sort of performance would this have on this boat. Any ideas on layouts etc, we mainly fish rivers and creeks. Haven't decided what is the best way to go. I am considering doing the boat to "as new" and fitting a new outboard. Any ideas :-/

I no expert on the subject (and not seeing the boat), though if you went to a CC config then 25hp may be a bit light on for a 'glass boat. Maybe 30/40 hp, but depends on budget.

Maybe you might want to consider tiller steer or side console... Just to maximise your fishing space... 13.5ft is a bit small for a CC (by the way, what is the current configuration?)... And as Kendall mentioned... depending on your budget, you may choose a 30 or 40hp.

You could turn it into a front CC really easygoing design as they maximise useable room in the smaller boats, also dry, #although there would need to be enough bouyancy up the front end or you will ship green water every now and then when at slower than planing speeds - the extent will depend on your particular hull.
Your 25 suzuki (strong engine) should see 30-35kph if proped to suit and have a decent enough hole shot, will depend on total end weight somewhat and the hull design a lot.

Thanks, has given me some more ideas. :-/
Looking to utilize space and maximize fishing pleasure.
Boat is currently a 70's style runabout but has been stripped to a bare hull and i can go anyway with the fitout, just unsure as to which way.
Thanks Kev
