View Full Version : Is it Strong Enough?

I am thinking of installing some reelax gunwhale mount outrigger bases to the flat metal plates on the standard stainless bimini top of my 685 outsider.
Has any one else done this?
Was it strong enough to handle low speed trolling and hurling around the ocean over waves at speed with the poles up?
I don't want to bugger the top and some prior experience may assure me or save me from making an expensive mistake.

G'day Rob
I'd suggest you take a few pics of the bimini setup and rigger bases you're looking at installing.

Well I'm glad I asked!
Dave Green was very helpful and seems to be a nice bloke to boot.
Dave thinks the plate will be too thin and at risk of buckling and at the very least would need strengthening.
What's more I want to convert it to a folding top to fit it in a garage and Dave seems to be the ideal man for the job :D so thanks for the tip Pete 8-)
