That's funny, but sad really.

Cause it happens all the time and with the older generation there could be some permanant injuries, that could wreck the rest of your life.

So how come in any boating safety booklet I have ever read, there is no mention on how to get passengers safely in to, and out of your boat.

It's obvious to some of us that having one leg pushing on the boat and the other leg on the pier, is going to cause a big gap to negotiate as the boat moves away.

It's just that some don't know that.

It's about time the authorities spent more money on that kind of awareness, than spending time worrying about the expiry date and size on a fire Ext.

Been there...........done that myself.

A few months back I returned from fishing and ran the tinny up on a sandy beach next to the ramp. I tried to jump out of the boat, but my sandal caught on the gunwale, and I went sprawling into the water. If you arithmetic is any good, you will realise that a few months ago was the middle of winter - and that water was plenty cold!!

Standing at the top of the ramp was a pair of cops - just checking rego etc I suppose. I was surprised that they didn't make me blow into their little machine. Maybe they reckoned I was stupid, not drunk (well I wasn't drunk, anyhow).

Fortunately, no one had a video camera running, but it was a cold trip home, particularly as the heater fan in the old truck has had the goat.
