I've about 1/3 of a 25l tank of fuel left, and I'm concerned it's getting a bit old (about 5 months I'd say). Would topping up with fresh fuel 'refresh' the remainder sufficiently, or should I get rid of the old fuel? If so, what's the best way of disposing it? I certainly don't want it down the drain and in our waterways.

I should have mentioned it's 2-stroke fuel.

Take it too the tip. They will have a place to dispose of it. Dont know if they charge for it. If its not too old the stick it in the car or use it in the lawn mower.

stick it in the car tank then fill the car with normal petrol.

Wont be a problem. Fuel is dear enough without throwing it away

Can anyone tell me if "old" ulp is more of a concern in the newer direct injection motors than the old oil injected two stokes?

What does old fuel impact on the older motors?

Thanks

Old Two stroke mix is good weed killer.

But a gallon or so chucked in your car with a full tank of juice is better on the pocket.

And who knows the oil might make the muffler last longer.

Doesn't impress the catalytic convertor but!

You could be right Kerry, but me motor would probably burn more than that 100ml of 2 stroke oil, in a tank full of petrol anyway.

PJW,

worth keeping a bit in the garage for washing greasy car parts etc. when you are in the Mr Fixit mode.

it's too expensive to throw away so chuck it in ya car, if it's an old beach buggy like my nissan it'll drink anything ;D

If you put it into a newer motor, also put one of those injector cleaner bottles... Found out that with the ex's car.... Ran like a dog for a few days, then ran that through, and off it went again.

guys i really wouldent advise putting the old fuel in your newer motor cars. as when you mix the old fuel with the new is okay but if it is that OLD and you have to throw it out then, most probely it will have mineral traces in it which will clog your carby's jets. but if it is a old banger than its allright becuase you really dont care.

well if ur real concerned but i would say get octane booster buy it from super cheap stick it in the fuel and put it in ur car, or just use it in ur mower or brush cutter/wiper snipper it would hurt them, or u could just burn it :D make a fire and put it on, dunno but around my land fuel doesnt go to waste ;D

cheers dave
