fast idol

my dads new allison has a fast idol switch and we have no idea what it does.
any ideas :-?

G'day
If it's what i'm thinking of, it's located usually ontop of the remote control box, alongside the throttle lever.

It's used to give the engine a fast idle in neutral for cold starting.

Use this switch/lever to start the engine when cold until it warms up a bit before engaging into gear.

Also use that fast idle lever for flushing your motor in a tank, or on the muffs,
at Eg: 1800 rpm.
