Just wanted to know what a fair price is for a 140hp Suzuki 4S in xlong shaft?
Also just wiondering about fuel usage? (Litres per nautical mile) Iknow it varies depending on the boat and weith the motor is pushing. Just chasing some idea?

G'day
Speak with kopey about the suzies as he'd be the one that deals with them most.

Failing that, shoot col_s a pm, he's the owner of fisher boats, an advertizer on here who also does suzuki.

If you can carry a 150 then compare the works and jerks. Got to be value in a 150 over a 140 ;)

That is about where most 4S's will "prefer" to operate the best too, they are not a rev machine ;)

i paid 15000 fitted with the extra gauges kit , fuel is about 19 l/hr @4500 rpm for 40km/h , 3 blade 17p alloy prop pushing a 540f hull .

6200rpm max for 60km/h , they tell me the suzukis rev high due to the gear ratios they use .

When testing the new rig, which has a Johnson (suzy) 140hp 4str, it liked it around 4-4500rpm. It was empty of gear and only 20lts of fuel + 3 POB, but the revs sounded right in that range. Going beyond 5300rpm there was a disproportionate increase in noise, to me anyway, and no doubt lots more fuel consumption.
4-4500, sounded very sweet. it was brand new, so didn't give it a flogging. will be interesting to see how it goes when fully loaded.
I regularly use a suzy 115hp, so had something to it compare to.

Steve

Agree with not flogging your motors but Steve the procrabber up here #runs a pair of Suzi DF115's behind a 28ft couger cat which is a little underpowered, has run his motors at 5000rpm's plus for long hours from day dot to now just over 4000 hours use with no worries. The Suzis still sing sweetly all the way to 6200 revs and can still get him to 28+ knots on a good day, an extraodinary fete by no means considering how underpowered the rig is.

The owner would get a pair of DF150's if he could but can't afford it at present as there hasn't really been a good season for crabs for a while. Understandibly he's definetly sold on the Zuks. #;) #
