Read in sundays paper that the maritime safety now requires all registered vessels to show a capacity label. my question is, is that the metal plate attacted to the inside of my tinny which has motor recommendations and the number of people allowed in my boat? Or is it a sticker that i have to buy?

With that name you must be in Qld.

A few years ago in Qld a label was sent out with the boat rego label.

If I remember correctly (and as a GOMits getting harder) you had to stick a little number sticker onto the big stcker they sent to indicat the number of 75 kg bodies the boat can carry.

Any other takers for this one ?

It's a free yellow sticker from QLD transport. When was your tinnie manufactured? Does the plate actually state the capacity or weights? I think (from memory, may be wrong) that only boats manufactured after 2006 will have plates that specify the capacity, pre 06 are not specific enough, so a sticker is a must. So I was told when I contacted MSQ. See the link below.

When I bought my tub it already had a capacity label. It is definitely a requirement - I was pulled up by the water police on a spot check a couple odf weeks ago & they wanted to see the label.
