Im looking at buying a 4.2m trailer boat from a guy in southern NSW. Who should I ask for a quote? Does anybody know what the going rate should be to Gold Coast?

TIA

I had one quote for $1800 to move the boat with a car carrier company. Does that sound about right - anyone? I was hoping it could be done for $500 ish, am I dreaming?

Looks like I might have to buy a local boat.

Andrew

Why don't you try Trewin Transport 0397682518 for a price.

They apparently move stuff from Melb to the witsundays and Melb to Perth etc so they seem to get around.

Enjoy

Might be cheaper to drive down there yourself, at least you would get a good look at the boat before parting with your hard earned.

I moved a 5m (on trailer) C/C from Cairns to Brisbane for $400 (cash job) :-X with a boat haulage company but this was only saving the GST cost. So I reckon that $1800 is way too dear. :o

My only advice is to shop around and be paitent as to the pick up and delivery dates as this can save a fair bit of cash. :)

Can't recall who I used but it cost me about $400 to get a 4m boat and trailer from Brisbane to Cairns a few years ago so $1800 for a shorter journey sounds way too much.

What ever you do, DO NOT USE RAIL.

I am in the car carrier business and don't use them either, they are not equiped to do the job either.

There are a few boat carriers around and are specialised in this business.

Look in the yellow pages.

You don't get anything foe nothing these days so you might have to spend a bit to get the job done.

And when ringing around , dont stick to just the Brisbane area.... Good chance you will find a better deal closer to where the boat is....I know I did with a car. ;)

Thanks guys, I'll keep ringing around until I get someone reasonable.
The seller said should pay $600-800 and that sounds OK.

cheers

Drive down yourself then you know the job is done right.
