Hi all,

Made a slight mistake tonight, I forgot to take the trailer brake off and then proceeded to reverse the boat. Heard a fairly loud noise but thought it was just the hitch safety chain hitting the hitch. But it wasn't what I thought it was, it was the brake cable snapping.

So my question is, after doing a search and finding no results, can you get stainless brake cable? Is it recommended or should I stick with gal? If available and recommended where is a good spot to get it from around the GC? What sort of $$$ is it per metre?

Thanks in advance.

Well if it only snapped in reverse it should be OK when going forward but I would get other advice also. :D

Mine is stainless ,well I assumed it was, pretty sure, I will shut up now :-X

Get it from any chandlery. I used the stainless cable they use for lanyards just have to make sure its the flexible stuff is all.

From memory i got mine from whitworths and cost me round the $10 mark, dont forget to get the stainless cable clamps as well not all that expensive either.

you can buy S/S turnbuckles, S/S wire rope clamps, S/S shackles and of course S/S wire rope cheaper than the replacement kit in Gal/zinc.

the flexable wire rope is around $1.50/M (measure what you need)

any chandlery will have it all
