I have a stressfree winch and think they are a great unit. Recently, however, whilst experiecing battery problems it occurred to me that this winch does not have an overirde switch. The motor on the boat was running but there was not enough juice in the battery to lower the anchor. Keeping in mind that battery problems are one of the most common forms of boating mishaps and in an emergency the ability to lower the anchor is essential, it seems that this could lead to a serious accident. Interested in other members views particularly those who own a similar winch.

So I take it the battery problems are sorted out then??
If so then maybe you should have a spare anchor and rope, think were required to have a spare any way.

But anyway hide the spare under the floor and use that if you ever get in trouble. Of course when you got one you never need it.
