after being disapointed with my trip to south west rocks called off i decided to chase some BASS and now i'm glad i did.
The water was about 3' above normal with all this rain so was able to get into some of the better snags that have been weeded up of late.
Hit the water nice and early to a long two and a half hour wait for the first fish

with the river up about 3' was able to drive the boat up the rapids to get to the less accesable parts of the river
this doesn't quite show the rapids how they where but you can see in the pic how much water was moveing

hahahha yeh, im looking at getting a little freshy fitout too just float the local creek after some jungle perch, tarpon and even a barra if lucky. I just got given an old Shimano TX2000, with a signature series rod, its in good nick and landed a couple of JP's on it already.

sounds good, how much did the reel cost? What weight leader do you use?

Good haul of fish there basserman. There seems to be 2 distinctive shapes for your bass. one of which being much more rounded than the other. Is there any reasoning behind this or are they just fatter?

chico both the rod and reel was $120 combined as for leader i was useing 14lb vanish

jeremy all the bass in the macleay river a natrual bass and natrual spawners the river has never been stocked by anyone and that included the midnight stockest
so best bet of difrent shapes is all in there diet or geans
but i have noticed myself that some are nice big and fat while other seem to have that lean sporty look but the fatter ones go harder so i would say it is diet :D

Basserman where is the macleay river??
is that in QLD

ive wanted to try the noosa river up in the glayds. long run for small boats makes it tuff to get to . went to go in the galey 4.8 but 1.5m chop too rough for wife to handle on the second lake. was blowin 30+ Bugger.

yep runs through the town of kempsey
not much to the town but sure good natrual fishing there
where we fish for the bass is some 60+km from the mouth of the river but with my 385 explorer and merc 25 i have done the whole 60 something km and took about 3 1/2 hours
wamjam i wouldn't say i know my stuff just lucky i guess ;)

I got my senna 2500 for $140...
not as cheap as yours ???
Ive got a shimmano raider rod (ian miller) with the 2500 reel filled with 6lb fireline and use 10lb leader(flurocarbon) and it is simply the best (definetly not the cheapest) and most sensitive setup i have ever owned ...
Amazing what you can feel with these things ......

i dout you could go wrong with that set up mate ;D
shouldn't be long and you will be catching bream and bass left right and center ;)
