Dylan,

any creek between Townsville and Cooktown that has a base flow (riffles, glides, races and rapids between pools is good), fairly contiguous riparian vegetation and no downstream dams, weirs or impassable waterfalls - and streams rather than major rivers, they're in the major river but you 'll need to get to the uppermost tributaries or side steeams in these to find them. PS the biggest JPs will be found in the most upstream reaches.

If you use the above as a guide go and have a look and you'll find them NB however that JPs especially educated ones are the most intelligent fish you'll come across in terms of sussing out fishers therefore (if you don't already) - wear drab clothing, don't present a large profile to the waterhole, use cover to approach a hole, don't thump the bank and move on after a few casts or definiately after catching a fish.

If the above seems too general - its because JP fishers like bass fishers down south don't like to give their spots away as JPs can be overfished by meat fishers - if you want some specific sites look through the old posts in the freshwater sections, or do a google search and you'll come up with some stream names - regards and tight lines - Jim
