I am new to Brisbane (southside) and am looking for good estuary spots for flathead, whiting etc.
I have a 16ft canoe with 2.5 hp outboard,
I thought jacobs well might be good place to start?.
I need sheltered estuary spots, mangroves, sandbars etc.
If anyone can give me some good spots to get started it would be very much appreciated. thanks.

Eprapah creek is ideal for your size vessel you can either if its light enuff carry it into the creek or access it from the banks at PT Halloran. Access road is Beveridge st. Thornlands. This also gives you access across the banks on a high tide in front of Pt Halloran to Coochiemudlo. Catches in the creek are Mud crabs, Flathead, estuary cod, the odd Mangrove Jack. Towards the mouth Whiting, bream. If you are trolling be careful on the corner just up from the mariner as there is a lot of rubbish in the middle n edges of the creek ie big pieces of steel..that love lures. Another hazard at times is the odd lair on a jet ski. Thompsons beach Vitoria Pt. would be another spot on a high tide at night accessible from thompson st victoria pt. hope this helps.
cheers.

Depending where u live, but the Pimpama would also be a
good spot for your canoe, u take the foxwell rd exit down
the gold coast hwy at coomera, just before dreamworld
u end up on coleman rd which takes u to diamond head
at the top end of the pimpama river, theres a boat ramp
its a very shallow and some good banks and holes ,just
stay in the top end of the river, also great mud crab area.
good whiting and f/head areas
