Can anyone recommend a fishing charter for a relative 'novice' in Broome.

I will be in Broome May 20 - 25

Am not fortunate enough to be on 'film star wages' http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm21.gif so the prospect of no more than a days fishing on a smallish boat is what i am looking for.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm16.gif

Hazy,

Just check out the topic "Broome" just down the Saltwater page a bit for some ideas.

I suggest ringing the Tourist boards, and getting some contact details. Ask the operators what they offer for the price.

You usually get what you pay for. The cheaper operators may have slower and older boats or cram more people on a trip. The sailfish ground are a fair way out, and the quicker the boat the more time fishing.

Hazy, have a look at the other post as suggested by Wes.

The important issue is to consider what fish you really want to chase on that day e.g. fish Dampier Creek for Barra, Jacks Thready's etc., or head more offshore and see if you can pick up some tuna, spaniards, Fingermark, Black Jew.

Steve Chambers (who owns one of the tackle shops in town) is the king of Dampier Creek and also has a charter service for both options mentioned above. He uses a 5.6 metre custom built ocean pearl boat which is perfect for the job.

Also ask him which day has the best tides over the 5 days your their.

His e-mail is mailto:nwtackle@wn.com.au

Give him a shout and see what the costs are given that I have no idea.
