Hey Mick,

As Luke said they are Butterbream, grow to around 8inch
some people eat the bigger ones, dont think there is a legal
size. can be a bloody nuisance when fishing for other fish
i have never hear of them being used for bait , live or dead
wouldnt get much of a fillet of them nearly all bone.
good fun for the kids to catch

as live bait goes nothing surprises me since I saw an 18kg cobia caught on a live silver bream (a meal with its own toothpicks) in the rainbow channel a few years back. I think a predator will hit anything that isn't noxious but given a choice ...

they school up in the thousand under a local pontoon. with a bit of bread you can get them into a feeding frenzy. will try them out as livies as soon as i find out for sure there is no legal limit.

I had a big yellowtail kingy swim up the berley trail and grab one at the Tangalooma wrecks early one morning. Had it in his mouth for all of about 1/2 second. Spat it real quick and shook it's head like it had just got a mouthful of somethin real nasty.

Nuisance value 10 from 10.
