Hi Breamstar....I can recomend the attack lures and the micro minns....great action in the water really gets those fish stirred up!!
My favourite colour for the attack would be pink, purple combination and for the micro minn a rainbow colour.......They are dinamite on flathead aswell....Just a tip - throw the lure in where there is shade as the bream don't like the bright sunlight. http://www.ausfish.com.au/chat/images/smilies/cwm11.gif...You may have to cast many times before the bream hit the lure.....persistance pays off in the end. #GOOD LUCK...The lure's mentioned cost around $10 each....These lures are best worked from a river bank or trolled behind a slow moving boat...You could try small lazer lures in the surf....you may even catch a tailor or three.
Cheers #Brent

Breamstar,

Get yourself some 1 inch plastic grubs & some 1/16 to 1/8 jig heads. try a slow retreive with pauses & see how you go :D

They aren't real expensive either.

I've got to agree with Brad.
Soft plastics are a great way of catching them. Even a dumb old freshwater idiot like me can get bream on them. Got a few today around the mouth of the Brisbane River fishing with House of Lures importers, Randall Gilbert. We test drove thier latest shipment of Big Bite Baits.
These couple were caught on 1 inch Big Bite Baits (soft plastics) on 1/8th & 1/16th ounce jigs.

Same plastics also got tailor, mullet of all things & a halfway decent flathead.

Give em a go, they do work.

Hi Fitzy, I was at a place Sat Night, where the bream are so thick, they swim passed your boat and wink at you. We tried everyting in my arsenal to intice them. But would touch a thing. Finally score one on one of randals grubs he send me. 40cm and theres bigger one there. white with red jig head, but think it was a fluke he took it, maybe there too well fed. any secrets from you or randall, that'll make well fed bream bite

Heck Webby,
I'm just a hacker in the Bream dept, think you should be talking to Nugget, Randall, Trav or Tony P. I aint seriously chased em for a couple of years when I was a nutcase on fly flingin for anything with fins. Did pretty good on em then for a while, but still only a hack.
See if anyone who's actually got a clue responds & if not, I'll give it a shot. (would probably be wrong info tho)

Cheers,

Fitzy..

Hi Breamstar,

I aint no expert but any of the green grubs will work, as well as the red & white.

Which ones to use in your area is just a matter of gettin a few, gettin out there & tryin. I'm still learining to use plastics myself & its slowly coming together, just keep trying ;D

Regards Brad

Breamstar

As far as hard bodied lures go for bream, the lure that for me has outfished everything else (by a country mile) is the Smilin' Jack's Raw Prawn in either the 40 or 50 mm size. These are available at most tackle shops and sell for 5 or 6 bucks. All colours have been successful but best results have been achieved on the green/yellow, pink or the red/black. As a point of interest, these same lures (in gold) have accounted for many Saratoga in the Hinze Dam.

The only problem I have ever had with these lures is that if you bounce them of a rock (misplaced cast) they can break.

I have also had a lot of success with the soft plastics however I prefer the feel of fishing with hard bodied lures.
