has anyone experimented with making their own soft plastics. or does anyone have any sugestions on what sort of rubber / plastic / silicon to use. i have the mould i just need something to stick in it. ???

that site has all the gear plus more. #im sure i'll spend hours getting into the nitty gritty.

i made the mould. #i was going to make some hard bodied minnows. but decided to experiment with a bibbed soft plastic one.

will let you if they work

I have read somewhere that soft plastics are made of "Plastisol" i am not sure if that is the name by brand or a common name. I think it's the same material used to make those thin sleeve grips on some of the pliers and stuff.

Look up Lakesideplastics on google to get more info but i don't know where you can get it in australia. Hope this helps.

cheers, i've read about plastisol as well, called bunnings and a couple of local hardware stores and no one had it or knew where i could get it

There is a product on the market called "fishabait". You can get it from Barnes Products. They are in Snook St at Clontarf.

I have used this product with some moulds I made and it seems to be OK.

Our kids had a 'crazy critter?' oven when they were younger. I experimented making s/p's with it as it had a rubber based liquid that set inside this pretend oven that just had a 100w bulb in it for the heat. The shapes were grubs, and bugs of all types and the colours ranged from black, purple, bright green, yellow, red, orange. We used to buy refill bottles from toyworld, might be worth giving them a try as the stuff is cheap and easy to use.
