Hey guys have been reading a few of your posts regarding fishing for squire around wellington point. Looking at starting to fish it and was wondering if you guys could give me a guide to fishing it. I know that i might be pushing it a bit but would appreciate any help that you could give me, feel free to pm me if you want. I have fished the river a fair bit so am willing to help anyone out with that if you want though lately i can't seem to pull anything of the pink variety from it. Pretty keen to get them on plastics though

thanks in advance for your help

Hi Scott, 10lb fireline with 12lb flurocarbon leader ( 2 metres ) 1/8th or smaller jighead.
Heavy wire 2/0 hooks and greenish 3 or 4" plastics.
Pumpkinseed gulps work well but if the smaller fish are around you tend to lose the tails.
Fish the dropoffs around 3 to 5 metres.
Cast ahead of your drift and take in the slack line as you go.
Very light line will get more hits but you will stand a better chance using the 10 lb.
HANG ON TO YOUR GEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those bigger fish can pull you out of the boat sometimes ;D ;D
Good luck mate.
Cheers Brent :)
