Hi Guys, I am in the market for a new sounder for my 14ft Tinnie. I checked out some today at the local tackle shop and found the Eagle Cuda 240 ???? (I think) that seems to look alright for my needs and budget. I was told they are made by Lorwance is that true? are they any good? or can any one else advise me of another brand/model.
Cheers Guys Trent

i would look at the garmin 120 too as they have more on them and better screen res than the eagle for not much more

Nothing wrong with the Eagle, however, you get what you pay for. I would be looking further up the range in the Eagles.

Hi Tinneboy
I have a X47EX Lowrance fitted to my 4.2m quinny explorer. I have found the wider screen and pixel resolution very adequate for what I need. All up the unit cost me $350 fitted. As basserman said, look for the pixel resolution. the more pixels the better the picture. Just keep it all relevant to what fishing you will realistically be doing.

Trent buy the best you can afford.....more pixels the better the picture.
I have a small lowrance colour 240 by 320.....Great little sounder for my needs in Moreton Bay.
Cheers Brent :)

I am now looking at a Lowrance X52 or X59DF. Has anyone used either of these or heard about their performance?

i ended up getting a lowrance X47 for my tinny and a X107cdf for the southwind and by all accounts they seem to be great value however this week should see at least the X47 getting put through it's paces

i got mine from wynnum marine in brissy as i found them the cheapest around ;)
