Gidday Fellow Fishos

I am looking at purchasing a new sounder and have been looking at prices on EBAY as compared to local dealers.

Price is like chalk and cheese.

Has anybody purchased their sounder on EBAY?? Would u do it again?

Cheers

Not a Sounder, but I bought my GPS there.

Might be more tricky warranty-wise than buying from a dealer, but it's never given me any trouble.

Good luck,
Mike

Bought a hummingbird matrix 37 /basic navman plotter 51101- May 05- considerable saving( $300 ea approx at the time)- both no hassles shipping etc. However I have heard that regarding some brands Aus outlets will not service o/s units if there are problems within the warranty period.

Always buy my stuff of Ebay or from the US. Sounder, GPS, UHF, Reels, Rods, line, lures etc etc etc etc

Saved a fortune. Never had a problem. Only suckers pay Aussie retail. :-X ;D

I purchased a matrix 20 with gps antenna for $369 landed when they were $799 on special out here.
It played up, cost me $39 to post insured back to USA but back in 10 days.
Still saved me $400. It would have taken 7-10days to be fixed in aus anyway.

Also purchased 2 sets of downriggers from usa via ebay. Units that are over 600ea here. 2 landed with duty paid cost me 550. Go figure.
Noy always the retailer making lots either. Local shop showed me their cost from importer and retailers make very little on downriggers. Import stitching us all up so they deserve to have ebay hurtiing them but feel sorry for retailers.

About 12 months ago we bought an Eagle Seacharter 480DF from the states. saved about $600 and it was delivered in about a week.

The only problem is if there is a warranty issue it has to go back to the states. But at half teh price I am willing to take that chance.

Have a look at www.gpsdiscount.com. We found them to be the cheapest

Gday budgebass
Mate I got a matrix 37 from the states, no worry's real cheap only problem it doesn't have metric. Feet don't worry me but fahrenheit temp is a pain in the a%s when talking to other fisho's.

PS If anyone has updated there matrix on there pc , I'm interested to no how you went.

anyone had any issues with customs on the way in - i.e getting hit with Customs Duty on the way in. (have only ever heard anecdotal reports that it can be a risk)???

Gday Moffy
Mate I heard a rumour that they don't seem to care about dutys if its under $500 . Its only 10% extra ,usually the price is still good
