Anyone know where I can catch herring with a cast net for bait this saturday - will be fishing in the brissie river so any location near the river will be good?
Or is there a bait shop nearby where one can buy them?

try any of the smaller creeks running off the brissie river, pontoons, boat ramps, brekky creek

there is plenty of bait around, mullet will survive longer than herring as I find them a little touchy

asked for herring because of the salmon that can be caught with herring
perhaps mullett will do as well

i think they have been caught on any live bait luderick included, mullet are a great bait and your a chance of getting a jew aswell, if you get a legal tailor dont be afraid to send him out as a livey for jew or maybe a big threadfin

between the eyes in through the cartlidge between the nostrells, or above the backbone in the top fleshy part tail end, i find the first way will stay alive longer
