Seen them in excess on 1m in 0the Seaway, while diving the pipeline. They sit in the troughs around the pylons - they seriously look like an alligator when they are that big. Heads like a shovel.
Remember Jack, if you catch a big one, they are the females and should go back.

Nice catch Jack! What did you catch him on? Are those guys like catfish or sturgeon or are they totally different altogether? Sorry for the basic questions, I'm on the other side of the globe and don't know very much about your fishery. Thanks.

Also, smile man! ;D You got a great fish there! Be happy! ;D ;D ;D

When you catch nothing but tiny three inch bluegills like me you can be stern faced. :-[..... ;D ;D ;D If I caught a nice fish like that, I'd be a grinning goofus for at least a week! Again, congratulations on a nice fish! Good goin'!

Good fish Jack
I love eating lizards but I rekon around the 40-50 cm taste the best.
And there are bigger Lizards out there for sure so go hard.

Damn nice lizard cobber.....
I caught one bigger than that about 10 years ago and it went about 5 kgs. My old man freaked out when he weighed it cos he thought the poor thing was gunna die, didnt move a bit. We released her back to the water and watched he slowly salter back to the bottom. She fought like a train when I hooked her and I did so on 6lb line. I rekon she was just stuffed and needed a rest. The old fella was so damn excited he lost a pair of expensive RayBans over the side. But went home telling me how proud he was that I did such a good job catching and releasing her.
I havn't seen one like her since.
Nice catch tho, and glad to hear you will release next time, good fella
cheers

Cool pickie Jack.
Nice of you to hceck out our fish El Carpo.
The flattie is a common one down this neck of the woods, good eating size is 40-50cm as stated earlier and they have a ripper set of spikes one either side of the head that you have to watch out for. The big ones go back as they are all breeding females. Some sort of sex change they all enrol for as they grow up I believe.
QLD is the state for the serious fish down here.

my best todate is a little one at 95cm caught on a soft plastic that i let sink a bit too much! >:(
i don't rate the flatties that much but thats mainly becauses your get a bit sick of catching them on the plastics
i would much prefure a nice big 50cm breambo ;D

me thinks a nice big shovehead would pull your prized breambo backwards.
