Have added a Membermap to the chat boards

Members will need to go to their profile and add the map information.

Features:

Members can
-view location of members on the main-map
-click on a members pin to view the members profile
-click on a name in the name list in main-map to make the members pin flash
-view members map in members "View Profile"
-select map, type location, select State/Region* and Country
-point and click on a map to place a pin where they live
-edit their location at any time from "View Profile"
-remove pin from map

So what does the button at the top of the page do? The one that says "member map" with the world icon next to it. My browser takes an inordinate amount of time to change to its intended target when this button is pressed. Even after doing all the above.

same problem here Steve. the member map button doesn't not want to load up the page in any reasonable time ie i have broadband and after 3 min still nothing. But then again the whole site seems to be really really slow at the moment. Do you think it is all related?

I do like how our locations are shown under our usernames when we post but. Looks good.

Seems to be a bit of a bug in that feature. Have disabled it for now.

I was thinking more of a basic search like in a location box. I would say put in cairns then all the members in cairns would pop up.But the map thing is even better . cheers daniel

It will only be a link if you put your pin on the map for people to see where you are.

Go to your profile and then click on the link that says "Edit Member Map"

Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and Canadian maps showed up to choose from. Will there be a US map? Right now, my locater pin is lost in a void of blue under Canada. (Somewhere in Minnesota or (gasp!) Wisconsin). ;D

Yep, must be idiot-proof, no link to any map toy on my profile either.
edit :- interesting, clicking the link to my profile from inside a post id DOES show the link. Clicking the Profile link on top of the page, between calendar and buddy list does NOT show it.

I found the easiest way is to open your profile from your name on a post rather than the menu at the top of the page.
