I had a read of posting rules and regs, and couldnt find any reference to what is acceptable under the 'general' forum. Do we have some guidelines please? It must be there somewhere. Could it be stickied in the help section?

Maybe intead of complaining about posts being moved, we should all have a look at what qualifies as general. As they say in the classics, you dont win the prize for great answers, you win a prize for asking better questions.

It may also be time to make a seperate Off Topic section, and move it away from Test? Considering the many hours a lot of us spend here, many members have a desire to discuss things that are not fishing. It would encourage them to stay here longer, and that has to be good for the site.

Hi Gogecko

General Chat as it says is "For general fishing related chat".

Any topics not related to General Fishing and that do not suit the other categories is to go in Test Board & Off Topic.

If the rules and regs are about fishing then General Chat would be the right place.

Cheers

If it does not have anything to do with fishing then it is not "For general fishing related chat" or if it is more related to a category that already exists it should be posted in that section.

If it is moved or deleted then it shouldn't have been there.

Posts such as a new member introducing themselves are allowed. The occasional dad announcing the birth of his new baby are left at the discretion of the moderators.

We can not always read all posts and some posts may be missed and left in a section when they should have been moved. Some posts are borderline are left, moved or deleted at the discretion of the moderators.

Don't forget, the moderators volunteer their time to moderate the site so people can enjoy the site and ensure it does not end up like other chat sites have.

Just my 2 bobs worth.... this is supposed to be a fishing site.... but fair enough there are other things to chat about..... but just remember that this site is used by Kids and they do not need to be exposed to rude posts & or degrading comments pointed at fello Ausfishos. Some of the junk that has been posted on the off topic area leaves a lot to be desired.
