How does swell affect Fitzroy and musgrave looking it’s possible for a swell of 1.5 to 1.8m at 8-9 seconds would this affect the entrance and is this acceptable swell that far out in a 6m boat just looking for local knowledge as a guide or people’s expertise
cheers scott heading up next weekend :P

We often fish in sydney in up to 5m swell outside but when its 1-1.5m chop its really dicey especally in a following sea its just messy, for us swell is ok but when its big chop its no fun try looking at how windy your proposed location will be on the day, is musgrave a bar? If not is it shallow? Check your tides, go out early come back in early is our goal in sydney anything after 12pm the water turns to crap, 5am its like glass tho even on predicted days to be high wind

Most important thing use common sense if it doesnt look safe dont go out

It’s a entrance to a lagoon 34nm offshore from the town of 1770 qld

Both entrances face north. Swell direction is usually from the south (haven’t looked for next week) Fitzroy reef edge goes under at high tide. It’s going to be sloppy in there with 2m swell.

This is the forecast planing on going out Friday early at 6am fish all day head back to musgrave lagoon at about 5pm
then head back out early sat fish all the way up to Fitzroy and stay there the night
leaving early Sunday and heading back to 1770 Sunday morning
the tide will be running out and filling again overnight so the lagoons might be ok
..
I guess I’m asking would a local be going out there in these conditions
cheers scott

There is a hole in the wind on Friday morning. Get out early before it blows up. Sat falling, Sunday better. Not the greatest forecast but doable if you don’t mind it a bit fresh. 1.5m swell inside the reef with 15 kts against it isn’t going to be stellar though.
As usual the forecast will change as soon as you launch. Try the fishranger app for more local weather.

Certainly is

I was subscribed to it but ended up canceling it as the Bom forecast seems to be a lot more accurate towards the Northern end of Fraser

You can't trust weather forecasts 12 hours out let alone days. End of the day I go with the printed BOM forecast for my local area.

Not a bad article for those who are interested in that sort of thing, and the reason I started using their site.
