Electric motor battery set up

Iam going to buy a 80lb 60 inch motorguide electric motor.

I need a 24 v system and will be buying 2 x 120amh deep cycle batteries.
I have looked up how to connect batteries and looks quite easy.

My question is. I am also going to put in a fusion stereo and prob a vhf radio.

Instead of running these to start bnattery i was going to run to the deep cycle batteries. Because then are linked together as 24v where or can i run pos and neg wires for the radios to these batteries?

In theory you can wire stuff to just one battery (both positive and negative terminals) but it’s not considered good practice and isn’t good for that batteries (like putting different types of batteries in series). Look for a 24-12v dc/dc converter doesn’t need to be big for your use so should cost less than $100.

Pretty simple. Wired across the two batteries like your bow motor then from there to your 12v switch panel.

As has been mentioned - can be done but not great practice. Most VHF's use a 10 amp fuse and typical current consumption for transmit would be about 7 amps. The stereo current draw will depend on what it's doing and the volume. I wouldn't be using anything less than a 10 amp reducer if you do go that way. Personally I wouldn't bother and would simply wire it to the start battery and be mindful of usage. If you are worried about flattening the battery and not being able to start, either carry jumper cables to jump off the electric batteries or as I have personally done, get a lithium jump pack.

Minn Kota strongly recommend that your battery or batteries to power the leccy motor are separate.

From a safety point of view you're more likely to flatten the bow motor batteries due to use than the engine start battery which is why they encourage people to keep them separate.

No mate my (2017 Riptide Terrova Ipilot) installation guide spoke of a trace wire in the main positive to the battery from the trolling motor, the concern about damaging the trolling motor from a outboard charging system and also the leccy motor causing interference with sounders and VHF radios if running off the same battery. I see a problem your electric motor is 24volt your stereo and VHF are both 12volts your motor is also 12volt both output and input, you need to work out if u want to run 3 batteries now i would avoid the booster or step down in this situation they are often inefficient and just wasting power

if your like me i hate charging batteries
