That engine is actually a Yamaha. When entering the outboard market in the late 70's Yamaha did a deal with Mercury and the Yamaha outboard was born as a Mariner. They later went on to market under their own brand of Yamaha. Mercury continued the Mariner name by producing Mercury engines in both the Mercury and Mariner name but they were identical engines. Simply appealing to both brand markets.

Hi Noel,

Yes it has been quite a while but I felt tonight to look in and see what was happening. I tried to resurrect Fishnet but the owners were not interested in doing a deal. Sad as it was a great website. As is Ausfish also and they co-existed happily together with many many members being members of both sites.

All very good at my end mate! How's your end?

Cheers

Thanks for the info BM, you must be right, as it is made in Japan. Would it then be compatible, parts wise with yamaha's?

To buy parts for a non-Yamaha Yamaha you need to buy them from Mercury.as they are a Mercury part (even though its a Yamaha engine).
