In the boat I have just purchased the floor that's been rebuilt recently and in good shape but for some reason has had the section cut out where the bilge pump goes, possible as the opening there was to small for the pump.

So I need to seal the exposed edge of the marine ply, the rest is covered by fibreglass.

What's best to use ? a polyester resin and if so does it need the catalyst part ? As it's not a fibreglass repair as such.

Or would I look at using flow coat or something like that.

Also any idea what is easiest to get off the build up on engine clowning I scratched off a bit with my fingernail, is a mixture of water and vinegar the go and if so what ratio ?

The floor is probably not marine ply, but that really doesn't matter, resin will need a catalyst (hardener) depending on how you want to fix the edge will determine how you go about it, you could use very fine chopped strand mat and cover the edges properly, then do the same to the cover and fit some screws to facilitate repairs later on, or you could cover the hole permanently. The motor cowl kind of looks like the clear coat has weathered, I doubt anything will just wash it off, cutting compound might help, followed by regular polish maybe.
