I was fishing on Monday and caught a nice blue salmon but my leader gave way due to the rasping.
Whats the best leader to use for Barra salmon jacks ect.
Ive heard Sunline fc100 is good.
What are you thoughts.
Cheers Marty

More info might give better answers,
- What were you using
- what strength mainline and what strength braid.
- what knot do you normally use to join the two

If your looking to stay with the same strength leader, just have a look for a thicker brand like schiender which does provide more resistance to rubbing, etc.

I'm not worried about my knots. They never fail.
I'm asking a question on leader types that are good against abrasion and my main line is 20 lb braid

Jackson 4300. I've heard Schieder is a good one.

I've been using schnieder for over 20 years on barra etc it's the best for abrasion resistance by far........a bit wirey and a little hard to tie with until you are used to it but it certainly out performs all others

A flurocarbon leader is the best. Having said that, Schneider Line is very good and a cheaper option.

Have a read here :_ http://www.berkley-fishing.com/Berkley-ae-why-use-fluorocarbon.html

I currently use black magic leader to tie on to braid, it has a small diameter which helps keep the knots smaller, then if I am running leader from a swivel on top of that I will go to a rovex or similar that is a little thicker for the abrasion reistance.
