has anybody on here put a Jackplate on their boat ,if so do they work as well as claimed ,seems a way of extending the transom on the boat without welding as there is a 10 inch one available , if i understand it right ,wonder if it would help to keep the boat on a plane with low revs , only looking at putting one on a 5 mtr ali boat.

Can't imagine a jack plate would help planing at low speed, that's more a foil thing (sometimes)

Really no point putting it on a normal tinnie.
Useful for boats being used in shallow water as you can get the prop further up from the hull as the motor is set back and adjustable. Handy for fine tuning engine height. Helps with a bit higher top speed in fast boats.

If your reaching wot revs as per spec, there is no real benefit for you. If your on the hunt for best motor height, its a great addition. It makes setups so much easier, no need to unbolt anything to get the right motor height. ( assuming a hydraulic jp). And there are lots of boats that can use one. A 5m tinnie, depends on size of motor and type of boat. With a 60-75hp motor, it would be a waste. No offence, but that power range has bearly enough grunt to hit 60km/hr. With a 150, you are hunting 75km/hr and over and a jp will help a lot.

Foil if you want the cheapest easiest option or trim tabs if you want the most versatile/flexible option. Either will work.
