Im looking at getting a new transducer. Can a Airmar b260 be mounted in an ali boat and not have to worry about bronze/aluminium reaction if you use the fairing block and insulate the thru hull shaft of the unit with say a nylon sleeve?

It can be done but from an engineering/galvanic point of view it is not recommended. Salt water can act as an electrolyte if there are any stray DC currents from the transducer, these currents are induced into surrounding material n hence electrolysis will happen. Surrounding alloy will become pitted n the bronze will look etched. A mate has done it n insulated with sikaflex but not sure how it has gone. Cheers Dave.
