Lure trotting hey?

In that case Id suggest a harness rig.

To be serious, it depends what you are trolling for and rod reel set up. But you cant usually go far wrong with a short double in the main line tied to mono or flurocarbon leader. If you were trolling bream and flatties then 20lb flurcarbon about 60cm long. If you are chasing tuna out wide on 24kg gear then 200lb mono about 15 ft long.

More details will get you a better answer.

Yeah thanks Camhawk. I'm gonna start to troll for Kingfish/Tuna etc

I have a new Shimano TDL25 overhead, so want to start playing around with it. Will start with lures & then hope to use some live baits etc. Got about 24 kg line on but not sure on rigs/swivels/lead weights etc.

Any advise is appreciated!

Cheers Spalli

Whichever setup you settle on, use ball bearing swivels and you'll get a lot less line twist.

Trolling for Kingfish is not all that productive down this way, you will get plenty of smaller ones around Port Kembla Islands during summer though, far better option is live bait for decent sized ones.

Jigging or Soft Plastics generally produce way better results for Kingy's, We generally only troll for Mackerel, Wahoo and the likes.

Big live baits trolled on a down rigger. Downrigger shop's website is worth a look to get you started
