Just enjoyed a pleasant day looking at boats at the show.
after spending an eternity researching a tinny for thailand, i have had to eat a bit of humble. ( yes, unfortunately, i am back)
I was amazed that there are so many boats in the 4-4.2m that would be good for the fishing i intend doing. Clark, stacer, quintrex.
So now i am focusing on the 420 renegade sc.
Anyone got such a beast?

Kind of, I have the Stacer equivelant a 4.29 Outlaw, what do you want to know? Lots of boats around that size, but they seem to be pretty good value when you consider they are complete with storage and bait tanks and full flat floor, make sure you get plenty of HP, don't let the salesman tell you 30HP is plenty!

I agree with Noel... I've got a 425 Avenger and went with the 30hp due to cost. It gets along ok but would be so much better with a 40hp.

Yep, a 30 is just OK, I have a 50 on mine and reckon that is just enough!

unfortunately, they are all rated to 50. 60 or 70 would be my pref, lol.
Just interested in how people find this size of boat. Is it too big too small, stable, bangers etc. Do 50hp motors put out enough juice to run two batteries, lights electronics.
Do I make a T top or standard bimini? Can I get away with a plastic anchor?

A 4.2m boat is a small boat any way you look at it, but the Quintrex/Stacer is quite a high sided boat, makes them seem much bigger, I have had mine out in the Ocean lots of times, no worries with 2 batteries I would think, don't know about a plastic anchor, I go crabbing in mine, and stability is OK, even with 2 people on one side, but it's still only a 4m boat......

I got a 4.2 stacer with 40efi Honda we run a bait tank, lights and Garmin electronics off the 1 x M50 battery with no issues. 800gph bait pump runs for 4 hrs at a time without the engine running with no issues

The Honda was nearly my motor, but ended up with a 50 Yamaha, still kind of think I should have gone Honda.

I looked at lots of boats in that size range and settled on the 4.29 Stessco catcher special with my old 30hp Yamaha pushing it, the Stessco had lots of fishing room and that was my main requirement and I can plane well with 4 adults so the 30 is fine by me...
