Converting a 4.35 Jabiru tiller steer 30 hp 2 smoke Merc to 40 hp side console

Hi All,

Here's the deal as a family we purchased a new boat a 4.35 Jabiru about 4 years ago. The kids and some adults are not comfortable with tiller steer so we are looking to add a side console.

The 30 Merc does not have tilt and trim and we would all like that and the 30 seems a little under powered so would like to go to a 40 (either oil injected 2 smoke or 4 stroke).

I would love to here people thoughts (and I know it would be easier to sell and buy a new one) but family wants to keep this boat.

Any recommendation on engine choice or appropriate side console that would suit this set up I would be most appreciative.

So,
Console would be 700. Steering 300. New motor 4500. Fitting 600. So 6100.

Trade in of motor 1500. Changeover 4600.

Finding someone willing to stuff around and do it will take effort.

Sell and buy new, changeover may be much less.....

Yes agree but my share is 20% hence outvoted on this one. One benefit however my changeover figure is only about 1K.
