G'day everyone, I'm about to build a new shed and looking at being able to accommodate a new boat in the future. Keen to hear any known height clearances on Hard Top style platey's up to 7m LOA. Also any extraordinary things around those measurements, eg radar domes, 17inc rims etc. My existing riptide comes in a 3.04 to the highest point on 15 inch rims, seems this is pretty typical when is did a quick browse of the likes bar crusher etc. I'd be particularly keen to hear info from the custom style rigs but any data appreciated.

I was originally thinking 3.8 clear under the door but a might get away with 3.6 or so depending on what I hear.

7.0 Assassin 3.3 at the hand rail on the hard top. Just changed the leaf springs though and i think they gave me the wrong ones, i had 9 leafs before and now I have 10. I think it rides a little higher now.

You might want to narrow down your brief a bit. For example:

a self draining deck 150mm above the water (if the boat is designed for survey) will add that 150mm on top of a boat has a sump and pump.
2 degrees of deadrise will add about 35mm
Radar mounted back from the front of the cabin in a way that wont have a shadow will add at least 500mm
Fixed rod holders that don't scalp you every time you walk past will add about 250mm.
what head height are you after? some boats in this bracket have as little 1900mm others have as much as 2200mm

I remembered something similar coming up last year, and it had a few replies from a few different boat owners, might help....

but really, as mentioned, depends on a lot of things... including the trailer design/type... & whether the driveway is flat leading in to the shelter/doorway, and if not, where the 'high point' on the boat is in relation to the trailer wheels etc etc. Many many factors.

Yep. I'm going shed doors of 4mx4m. Boat I'm building is 3.5m high on trailer and will flush mount radome to hardtop.

Thanks all, that's a help, lots of variables but manageable to a point when doing the custom thing. Seems like about 3.6 clear is the minimum I would want.
