If he was driving a boat with a load of paying clients, endangering their lives and your lives, he needs hanging from the yard arm and then scuttle his boat.
But before you do that, report him and make the prick hurt. No need for that nonsense.

The tone and openness of your description of events suggests that you are a very reasonable and moderate person. Therefore, might I suggest you consider lodging an incident report promptly with Maritime Safety Queensland.

Who was the charter?

Yeah I would also like to know the name of the charter boat. Name and shame him, the waterways are for all to use no spot belongs to him or anyone else.
If this fool operates like this on the water he needs to be reported and dealt with for the safety of all.

Had a similar experience in that area at the end of last year. Wasn't good for the punters on board the charter boat to see the skipper throwing a tantrum. Wonder if it was the same operator?

not a lot of point unless you are prepared to do something about it imho - if you name / shame as an allegation of certain behavior etc then there is no chance of legal action against you or any concerns - radio stations, tv current affairs etc do that all the time - up to yu though

cheers

Doesn't make it right, but I wonder if it is a regular problem for him, with regular fishos following him around, storing GPS marks.

Not saying that was your situation SecretSpot.

Yeah that's pretty rough I was out there on the weekend at a fairly common spot and didn't see another boat the whole time

While I don't condone his behaviour. I think it's pretty rude to sound around any boat that's on a mark whether it's your mark or not. If you sounded around and found fish where you going to drop anchor right next to him?
Ocean is massive so I personally get extremely annoyed when someone cuts in on my drift/spot while I'm there.
Make note of the area the boat is on and come back to it when no one is there. It's the polite thing to do.

I travel 100km offshore to get away from people. It's frustrating when said people don't give you space.

I am glad you said that.
I thought I was losing it when I tried to make sense of the previous posts.
