The up arrow makes the anchor go down or drop and vice versa.

This is the second new boat in a row that this has been installed this way by reputable brands

I was thinking they made an error but someone told me that was the way it is supposed to be - not sure why - safety??

Do most new boats get them installed this way?

Think of the switch as being mounted in a horizontal surface and the anchor out the front. Makes sense then.

Yep - that does make sense! My brain must be wired differently to most people - I couldn't see that.

Now I just need to re-train my brain..

Thanks scottar

No - you're not wired different. I reversed several switches for clients over the years. It's a bit of a carry over from winches on commercial boats where it's not so much up and down as haul in or pay out IMO. Not difficult to change if you want it the other way.

Assuming its a 12V dc motor, all of thirty seconds work to swap the two wires

if ya can get a photo of the back of the switch where the wires connect to it might help?
if it's just a common, 1 and 2 set up it might be easy to swap around...

It sort of matches the BowBow in a warped way.
