Might be a long shot, but can anyone on this forum assist with obtaining a Coxswains Certificate, for less then the prices I've been given of $1500 to $1800. Thanks in advance.

It's gunna be around that in course fees. Try Nambour Tafe and try and get on a course run by Robin Hood if you want a good teacher.

I think you can sit the test without the course still if you think you know the answers.

You'll need a Cert II.

Yeah, make sure you read and study the "Small Ships" Book well, Maritime Safety Queensland at Pinkenba will test your knowledge and check your eyes properly by giving you vessel lights close and far which you will need to determine colour and distance away etc before issuing certificate

Gateway TAFE at Eagle Farm use to run it, might now be taken over by TAFE at Bracken Ridge.

I don't think Nambour TAFE do Coxwain certificates only Bundaberg from my research?

Nambour do the course.
As Smithy said, Robin Hood is a good teacher.
There is nowhere in Brisbane that run them now, not even through the private sector.
Private sector now only run Master 5.

There is also a place on the Gold Coast that run the limited coxswain course. You walk away with your ticket in a couple of days.

The coxswain course at Nambour TAFE & Robin Hood is not operating any longer. I phoned them today. They have a new instructor & the course is now run at Bundaberg TAFE

Dave from Bundy TAFE is good too. Did my MED2 under him. It is off Walker St and the main TAFE campus. Did my original Coxswain at the old Bundy Marine campus on the river.

Robin may have gone out on his own under the Coast Guard umbrella.
