Doubt there was anything wrong with the boat. That's just what powered up boats do when they aren't landed straight. That boat was a long way out of level and old mate scored the wave of the set just as it was about to crack. You can see he throws the wheel over to the right to save it, just a half a second too late. Pretty good reflexes though, considering he was probably steering with his teeth by then. If it had continued left there would have been trouble.

Yup - the loose nut behind the wheel. Any boat driven incorrectly can have a mishap - I've had a few myself through inexperience, poor timing and dare I say it - stupidity. Thankfully I've always had luck on my side. Hopefully no one had anything more than their pride hurt and old mate learned something from his experience and won't drive over the front of one just as it's starting to stand again.
