Hello,

i currently have a set of f115yamahas on my 560 sharkcat. Motors came with 13.5x15 solas props. Motors hit 6300 rpm around 10 seconds from take off(that was just shy of full throttle too). They are fairly under propped.

im interested in anyone who has a similar set up and what prop size you run and what performance figures you get?

cheers

Doing a bump here.

After a few runs in the boat it needs bigger props. I'm not that savvy on props, I called solas and they said 13x19p would be to much for my motors but I'm thinking they didn't consider its a cat/twins. they suggested 17's but I think i'lll still be getting over 6000rpm on my motors (f115 yammies)

correct me if I'm wrong but a size in pitch would equal 400 less rpm at wot? for how much speed gain roughly?

also, can anyone enlighten me on using different brands on my motors? eg- I notice there are a ton of 140 Suzuki props for sale, would fit a 115 yammie with correct thrust washer?

Cheers.

PS- anyone want to trade pops with me?:) ive a set of solas 13.25x15p..

Just to get an idea mate my previous boat ( mono) had the F115 on it with standard 17k Yammy stainless prop. It used to do 6000rpm but was crap through the midrange and not that fuel efficient. Went to a solas 131/4 x 17 new Saturn. Max RPM dropped to about 5400-5700 depending on weight conditions etc but mid range speed and economy was way better. Now I know it wasn't a cat but it will give you an idea. No way will they (17s) rev to 6300 IMO

mate most 2400 kevlacats and noosacats run 13x17 on the 115 yammie 4 strokes.

Ok cheers for the reply' guys.

seems I just gotta bite bullet and do some actual field tests.

if 2400's are running 17's seems I might have some wiggle room to go a bit bigger, as my 18sc isn't as heavy.

also would a set of props off 140 Suzuki fit?

cheers

Not exactly sure on the interchangeable props, some are, some models are not, only way to know is try, or from someone who has swapped different brands at some time, Solas might know maybe?

... would a set of props off 140 Suzuki fit? ...

Pretty sure they would Flex. Shaft spline #'s are the same (15), and I'm pretty sure prop hub sizes are the same - small/V4 size props.

Measure the O/D of the recess of your prop (the recess at the front of the hub, which slips into the ring on the gearbox).

If it is 100mm +/- it is a V4/Std 4 size and the Zuke prop will fit.

Not 100% sure on the thrust washer though, but my hunch is it will be ok. SOLAS would know for sure, and they will swap props until you are happy too.
