Wow, that's a lot of info, but well worth the read. I love a sharp knife and to get this sort of insight into how to achieve a good edge by myself is priceless. Thanks for posting.

that was a good read, the author was able to explain it so even i could understand it.
years past i would take great pains to get my filet knife "scary sharp" with a polished edge.
but, really, it seemed to work better with a bit of a courser edge on it, so thats what i went to when sharpening it.
having read the article that now makes sense to me.
