I have never head of it, but they have a $140 fee of $70k, more if a credit card is used..... A bank cheque is about $5 and a short drive down the road for most people. I am sure there are plenty of other easier options.

Never heard of it.
I agree an Australian bank cheque is the way to go. After all he's got to come to you to pick it up anyway. Take no risk's. Do not trust stranger's.

Cash only. Whenever i sold a boat or jet ski, i always demanded cash. No cash no sale

Does the buyer work on an oil rig?

Thanks for the replies. The guy seems legit, from cairns. I did ask some mates from there if
They know him but don't unfortunately. I know if I was in his position I would want to check the boat out.
I know the add on here says $70. I have changed it twice so not sure what's happening there.

Sounds like the old two step to get you to pay up front for the $140 using the boat as a diversion.
Probably a Greek pensioner living in a cardboard box, $140 is big bucks over there. Take him up to the next level & have some fun.

It is an NAB subsidiary, but that doesn't mean they offer any sort of solid protection. Maybe get him to pay the $140 fee if you decide to use it. Has he given you his full name? maybe do a bit of facebook stalking.

Just an update. Didn't end up using protecti.com.au I voiced my concerns to the buyer and he agreed to fly down. He inspected the boat and we did bank transfers and rego changes on the day and his transport company picked boat up that day as well. Was pretty sad to see boat go but is comforting to see it go to someone who will appreciate and look after as I did. Boats going to FNQ so hopefully he puts a lot of trout and emperor blood on the deck
