Recently i traded a 35hp Johnson Seahorse, '79 model on a Johnson Seahorse 60hp which i stuffed up on diagnosing the identification plate on and thought it was an '87/'88 model::)
Anyway:
Pictured below is the id plate which i equate it to being a 1980 model Johnson 60....?
Also pictured is the 3 wire tilt motor and the forward control unit. Ive been scouring the net on wiring diagrams and setup information and im now at a point of pulling my hair out, if i has some atleast to pull out...lol...

Those in the know will work the issue out straight up...

************The controls are from a later model Johnny?************
************Where do the wires hookup?************

Ok....I just accidentally came across a youtube clip showing the testing and operation of the Tilt/Trim pump.

It shows the 3 wires, (colour codes are different), however..the black is the negative and the other 2 are up and down.
They call this model a
Outboard 3 Wire. Prestolite Johnson EvinrudeI also found a wiring diagram that could equate to this particular wiring setup?

Yep, pretty common colours, red is the positive, blue is up, green is down, looks like someone might have cut them off?, that control can have a trim switch on the handle, or you can buy the round black switch and dash mount it.

Yeah, the wires on the pump are cut and they cant possibly make it to the engine solenoid.(looks like ill need to extend that loom)
With the control, i found out its a '91/'92 model and the up and down switch is in the handle. The loom with the factory 3 wires are there also.

Gday and good luck..those things used to leak like a b#tch so before attempting anything be sure to fill up with power steering fluid and test run with jumper leads and probably a 32a fuse in series with them. Wouldn't attempt anything until the above has been done....(thats my experience anyway)....was forever topping mine up and the price to repair 20 years ago on apprentice wages was ridiculous...good luck..

pretty sure thats early late 70s/early 80s as those external Trim Tilt pumps were from that era.

Yeah, I was looking on Marine engine . com and they have that tilt/trim setup listed as an accessory on the '80 model Johnson.

Thanks for all the advice. Will be going through test side of things tomorrow.

Ill reseal it if i get any leaks. That side of things is atleast my trade.

What is the 3 pin fitting below the ignition on the control?
