no 18 mth is way too long for inactive, i suggest u get it service, and get new oil, it just like a car... 60000km or 18mth whichever come first :)... safe then sorrie, shouldnt cost u more then 100-200 anyway not wroth it

I personally would just use it, but if you feel so inclined, a "proper" service wont hurt, gear oil will not go bad in 18 months, the chances the new impellor will be stuffed is also remote, only possibility I guess would be some bad fuel left in the carby causing a bit of rough running for a short while.

it wont be sitting around for any long periods now that you are retired, I can testify to that re retirement

NO after i used it i flushed the motor for 5 mins then took the fuel line off so it ran out of fuel and stopped .so the carby would be empty.

Definitely get a new impeller fitted and change the oil in the leg. Brother got caught with the same issues, when the he didn't replace same after a long period of non use. It let him down and had to get a tow.
Probably cost you around $ 140 .

Pray for good weather and all the best on your retirement, I've never been busier since I retired.
