so I have decided to repower my old fiberglass runabout, got burnt with a second hand engine and have decided that I will be going the way of a brand new motor this time, I want to spend under 10k, my preferred motor is the 70hp Yamaha 4stk second option is the 90hp carburetted 2stk, both of these weigh in at around 120kg and fall under the 10k fitted mark, anyone here running the 70 on a similar sized boat and could give me some fuel v speed figures?
the old motor as you can see had more than a few years on it and loved to chew fuel, i am only going to improve performance, just chasing some real world figures

these are old pics and the transom has been replaced as well as having previously had the stringers and floor replaced,

Not the same as your hull but a mate has the Haines V16r with a 60hp Yamaha fourstroke and he gets around 27kts WOT and cruise at around 20kts from memory......Fuel wise mate I think 12-15ltrs an hour at 5000rpm would top the 70 out they are pretty frugal on juice.

I have a similar hull with a tiller tohatsu 50 and I get good figures. bout 27knots WOT.
tohatsu have cheap 2 strokes if u are that way inclined. Easy to service at home. If you go flash four you will also be up for big service costs and it's not as though you go long distances in that rig

I would have no problems doing the run to the reef on a good day, visited the wrecks off here a couple of times with the old 70 on it, when the conditions are right you can go anywhere!

It's got a 70 on it now, is the performance suitable for your use? If yes, then the Yamaha 70 will be a good match, similar weight, cheap as chips to own and run.
