Hello all,

Just after a bit of advice.

Today I went fishing in the Pioneer river in Mackay, I was using soft plastic Atomic Prongs and caught some nice Cod, however there were Barramundi jumping everywhere, hundreds of fish jumping in a few particular spots. No matter how many casts into the area I couldn't hook up, they wouldn't look at it, I tried a few different plastics but same.

Can anyone have a go at suggesting what may be a good lure or tactic to catch one of these beauties?

Cheers

try a hardbody and let it pause after a couple of rips it lets them have a good look at it

Thanks for the suggestions people, don't know about the shotty, I'll give it a go after I try the hard bodies.

Anyone have a favourite hard body? I know it's horses for courses but?

I've tried vibes in the past but no luck.

Thanks for the replies, if only I can crack this nut, there were so many fish.

Makes you wonder whether the bullies had them herded up and that's why they were jumping. They may not be in the mood to feed if that is the case

The bullies must be big buggers.

I never got to see it first hand but when Awoonga spilled over in 2011 and the fish went over the wall, the bull sharks turned up and were waiting for them where the river crosses the road at Pikes Crossing below the dam apparently. Was told by a local that every so often you would see one smash a barra.
